Women Beyond Waves
2024
My project is about portraying female surfers from around Cornwall. I want to shed light on the feminine side of the sport, which is neglected in the media and in society’s conscience. The inequality within surfing is still a current and important issue, that every female surfer is exposed to.
Through photographs, I aim to capture the individuality of women while celebrating their shared connection to the ocean. By creating space for them to express both vulnerability and strength, I hope to challenge perceptions and advocate for greater acceptance and respect for women within the surf community.

BREATHE

While the ocean evokes a sense of peace, it also carries an undercurrent of fear. The vastness, the depths, and the unknown beneath the surface speak to humanity's primal vulnerability. Through this exploration, the project reflects on our relationship with the ocean, urging us to respect its depth, unpredictability, and power.

More than just a board
2023
To some people a surfboard is just a piece of foam and wood, but for surfers it is more than that. It is the portal to a unique experience. It is a part of their identity.
Surfboards not only have symbolic meaning, but they also push women’s confidence to proudly stand their ground out at sea.
By photographing the women and their boards, these images symbolize the equilibrium between them. The board is a reflection of its owner’s character, carrying scratches and scars, that they both endured.
Using the location of Godrevy beach, watching surfers revealed how a connection between the surfer and their board can bring the ocean closer to them.
